Another Low-Key Coronavirus Homeschool Day… #19

Even though the boys haven’t been in a school building for 4 weeks, the fact that “Spring Break” was originally on the calendar has us feeling a little carefree. In “school” today we did some experiments with our Naked Eggs and took a quick look at sound.

The Naked Egg!
Look how much it expanded! The egg’s membrane is semipermeable, so we also learned about osmosis.
We dropped it from 5″, 8″, 12″. It bounced at 5″ and 8″. It burst at 12″.

We did other experiments with the other eggs. Check out WSCH for the full report!

We switched gears and talked about Sound for a little bit. The can telephone was a hit.

Caleb trying to use the can telephone with Isaac on the other end.
Isaac teaching the class what he has already learned about sound.
Nathan and Mom did the best with the telephone. Probably because I had a lot of experience when I was a kid.

Daniel continues to work at home as much as possible. Lizzie loves Daniel sooooo much!

Since it is Maundy Thursday, Daniel and I joined our church through Zoom for the Maundy Thursday service. What does Maundy mean? It means new commandment. At the last supper, which was Passover, Jesus gave his disciples a new commandment: “Love one another, even as I have loved you, you also ought to love one another.”

No one has loved us as much as Jesus did.
